Victoria Jennings Residences:
Providing Dignity & Independence Since 1997

History

Victoria Jennings served as the student cook at Saints Industrial & Literary School in Lexington, Mississippi, where former Presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ, Bishop Louis Henry Ford, received his education. After migrating to Chicago, she became a devoted member of St. Paul Church of God in Christ, faithfully supporting the ministry through her service to others and her financial contributions.

Established in 1997 as a nonprofit affordable housing organization, Victoria Jennings Residences opened its doors to serve low-income adults with disabilities in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood. Like its sister property, Margaret Ford Manor, it shares leadership under Pastor Kevin A. Ford and a deep commitment to South Side community stability.

Fulfilling Bishop Louis Ford’s long-held dream to honor her legacy of compassion and service to humanity, this building is named the Victoria Jennings Residence. In her memory, it provides a home for families and individuals with disabilities, continuing the spirit of care and dignity she embodied.
